Often, as we begin to ask our disciples about their relationship with Jesus, they answer with those “churchy” words we all know. But are they saying these just because they think it’s what we’re looking for? A great question to ask is: “If your best friend asked you how they could be sure they would go to heaven if they died, what would you tell them?” If you get something about works (going to church, being good, etc.) you know you need to lead them to Jesus by grace through faith. Do you have your personal template ready with your foundational points for this?
Even if you get an “I don’t know” back, it’s a great beginning for teaching them what true salvation is, and also how to tell it to others.
