Lesson 6: Heart’s search for His ways
www.bible.com/bible/59/psa.119
33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of your statutes; and I will keep it to the end.
34 Give me understanding, that I may keep your law and observe it with my whole heart.
35 Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.
36 Incline my heart to your testimonies, and not to selfish gain!
37 Turn my eyes from looking at worthless things; and give me life in your ways.
38 Confirm to your servant your promise, that you may be feared.
39 Turn away the reproach that I dread, for your rules are good.
40 Behold, I long for your precepts; in your righteousness give me life!
As we begin to mature in our walk with Jesus, we acknowledge we cannot live sinless lives without Him. Our heart’s prayer becomes two things: asking Him for His work in our life, and promising Him to do the best we can do. Look at the verses in this section:
- Verse 33 – We ask Him to teach us His way, and we promise to be faithful to Him.
- Verse 34 – We ask Him to give us understanding, and we promise Him our whole heart (our focus).
- Verse 35 – We ask Him to lead us, and we promise Him our passion will be for Him alone.
- Verse 36 – We ask Him to help keep us faithful, and we promise Him our mind.
- Verse 37 – We ask Him to help us stay focused on Him, and we promise Him our dreams for the future will be for Him.
- Verse 38 – We ask for His blessing, and we promise to worship Him.
- Verse 39 – We ask for His justice, and acknowledge His ways of dealing with all things around us are the best.
- Verse 40 – We ask for His presence, and acknowledge He alone gives us life.
We are beginning to pray for what He wants in our life, listening to Him as part of our prayer time with Him.
