Lesson 9: God's Power Cannot Be Intimidated

Daniel 4:34-35 - “At the end of the days I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my reason returned to me, and I blessed the Most High, and praised and honored Him who lives forever, for His dominion is an everlasting dominion, and His kingdom endures from generation to generation; all the inhabitants of the earth are accounted as nothing, and He does according to His will among the host of heaven and among the inhabitants of the earth; and none can stay His hand or say to Him, ‘What have you done?’”

It is pretty obvious in our verses that nothing and no one can ever intimidate God. Why? Because He is going to do whatever He wants to do, any time He pleases. This is what Nebuchadnezzar finally understood. He learned that God is so powerful that He does not have to answer to anyone. Nobody is going to bully Him around and nothing is going to make Him afraid. We forget that God is the one who is in control! We forget that because we are His children we do not have to be afraid and we do not have to be bullied around by people or circumstances. God certainly is not afraid.

The first way we know that nothing can intimidate God is because God has control over the wild animals.

2 Kings 2:23-24 - "He went up from there to Bethel, and while he was going up on the way, some small boys came out of the city and jeered at him, saying, ‘Go up, you baldhead! Go up, you baldhead!’ And he turned around, and when he saw them, he cursed them in the name of the LORD. And two she-bears came out of the woods and tore forty-two of the boys."

God obviously has control over the wild animals. He is so powerful that with a snap of His fingers, even animals have to do His bidding.

Wild, ferocious beasts become playthings in His hands. Bears are not the only wild animals God has control over. Here are a few of the others He controlled in the past: frogs (Exodus 8), gnats (Exodus 8), flies (Exodus 8), livestock (Exodus 9), locusts (Exodus 10), quail (Numbers 11), snakes (Numbers 21), hornets (Joshua 24), donkey (that talked, Numbers 22). I believe whoever could do that is powerful. God not only controlled the animals in the past, but He will do it again in the future.

Revelation 6:8 - "And I looked, and behold, a pale horse! And its rider’s name was Death, and Hades followed him. And they were given authority over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword and with famine and with pestilence and by wild beasts of the earth."

God will use wild animals to judge the wicked during the 7-year Tribulation. They will be used to destroy one fourth of the earth's population. You might think wild animals are not a big concern today but the point is that anyone who could control all the wild animals on the whole earth is powerful enough to make this happen.

* Memorize Matthew 6:26 - “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?”
