Lesson 28: Our Only Hope in the Presence of a Holy God

As we complete this study on the Holiness of God, we need to take a moment to understand the need for our response to Him in all His Holiness. We have read again and again – His Holiness demands righteousness and justice, and His love provided the way we could “be Holy as He is holy” (1 Peter 1:16). Take a few minutes to make certain of two things:

First, make certain you are truly His child and therefore an “inheritor” with Jesus of all that God will give Him in the new heaven and new earth.

Admit that you are a sinner, that you deserve death and the eternal torment of hell we have just read. There is no good thing you can ever do to earn a place at His side.

Romans 3:23 - “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,”
Romans 6:23 - “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 5:8 – “But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Be willing to turn from your sins. The Bible calls this “repentance” or turning away from sin to Jesus.
2 Peter 3:9 - “The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should reach repentance.”
Matthew 4:17 - “From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’”
Acts 3:19 - “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out.”
Believe that Jesus Christ died for you on the cross and rose from the grave.
John 1:12 - “But to all who did receive Him, who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God.”
John 3:16 - “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Through prayer, invite Jesus Christ to come in and control your life through the Holy Spirit.
Ephesians 2:8-9 - “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
John 4:10 - “…If you knew the gift of God, and who it is that is saying to you, ‘Give me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
Then follow Him in His kingdom-work in this world, to tell others the good news of His salvation.
Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”
John 14:23 - “…If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word, and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him.”

* Pray: Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and need Your forgiveness. I believe that You died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I now invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as Lord and Savior.
