Lesson 20: God’s Love is Good Because He Keeps on Loving Us

Hebrews 13:5 "Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’"

This verse is clear. When it comes to the issue of being loved by God, the text does not say God would stay with you as long as you remain that perfect person. It does not say He is going to leave and forsake you the very first time you fail.

This verse is God's way of saying, "If you belong to Me, you must understand - you belong to Me forever! I am not going to leave you!” What makes this so amazing is the context in which God makes this promise.

Keep in mind, this is the same God who has shown us mercy by giving us a Palace in Heaven instead of a Pit in Hell, a Body of Perfection instead of a Body of Pain, and a Heavenly Greeting instead of a Hellish Goodbye.

If that was not enough, He shows us compassion by dying for those who wanted Him dead and continually forgiving our continual sins. If that was not enough, He shows us kindness by accepting sinners just as we are; He turns us into saints and then He turns us into sons.

If that was not enough, He shows us graciousness by giving us the grace to obey, serve, and love Him even after we are saved!

If that was not enough, He shows us patience by not only putting up with our sins until we get saved, but He puts up with our sins even after we are saved!

If that was not enough, He shows us faithfulness by providing, protecting, and hearing our prayers despite our sins!

The point is, even after all this love God has given to us, we still sin against Him. Therefore, what does He do? He keeps on loving us and making everything work out for good in our lives.

He is not like us. Out of goodness He not only saves us from our sins, but He keeps on loving us in spite of our sins!

That is why when we cannot seem to appreciate His great goodness, God not only saves us from our sins, but He keeps on using us, blessing us, and loving us despite our sins. He deserves our love and honor and respect. When we get a taste of the depths of God's Love and His goodness towards us, our lives can never be the same.

This is the amazing message we get to tell others around us: "God not only exists, but through Jesus Christ people really can have an intimate personal relationship with the Creator of the universe before it is too late!" If the world is ever going to believe our message, we must be true and dedicated Christians. We must demonstrate with our lips as well as our lives that God is Love!

Thought Question: Since God loves us so much, how can we demonstrate our love for Him?
