Lesson 13: Acts and the Letters – Description

Acts – the beginning of the church.

2 Corinthians – the Christian’s ministry. Instruction is given for the nature of a Christian’s ministry, the fundamentals of giving, and the importance of understanding authority.

Galatians – the Christian’s accountability before God and to other believers. As believers we are to hold ourselves accountable for our actions toward other believers in our church so we do not stray from the Truth.

Ephesians – the Christian’s responsibility to walk God’s way. This book gives simple but profound ways for us to live our Christian life in our every-day-world at home and our jobs.

Philippians – the Christian’s unity with other believers. Our unity with other believers in our church is of great importance to God.

Colossians – the Christian’s stability in his relationship with Christ. Keeping our life in Christ stable is only possible as we understand who Jesus Christ really is. False teachings can only be seen at times as they are directly compared to Christ’s teachings.

1 Thessalonians – the Christian’s hope. Hope is rarely ours when our church is not faithful to their faith in and prayer to God. Hope in Jesus through such faith and prayer is ours even through trials of death and the coming judgment.

2 Thessalonians – the Christian’s confidence in spite of what is around us. Confidence comes through teaching and correction.

1 Timothy – the Christian’s faithfulness to God and other believers. Faithfulness to Jesus and the Truth brings faithfulness in our ministry to others.

2 Timothy – the Christian’s endurance in ministry and to God. We learn to endure as we learn from the examples of others who have endured.

Titus – the Christian’s stewardship for what he has been given. Jesus expects us to use what He has given us for His kingdom.

Philemon – the Christian’s relationships with others. As believers, our relationships with other believers are no longer the same as relationships in the world.

Hebrews – the Christian’s sufficiency in Christ. There is nothing we need in addition to Jesus Christ to live a full Christian life.

James – the Christian’s faith in action. Faith without action is not faith, but action never produces faith.

1 Peter – the Christian’s holiness. Jesus wants us to be set apart from the world.

2 Peter – the Christian’s diligence. We must never falter in seeking God’s Truth in every part of our life.

1 John – the Christian’s assurance / reassurance. God wants us to know for sure we are His. It makes a difference in how we live.

2 John – the Christian’s abiding in Christ. Our life is in Him, not in things of this world.

3 John – the Christian’s service to others. We are left here to serve others as Jesus served us.

Jude – the Christian and apostasy. We must guard against falling to the deceit of evil.
