Lesson 2 – God’s promises
Read Psalm 23 - www.bible.com/bible/59/psa.23.esv
This lesson shows us God’s promises that come with His teaching to not be afraid. Please look up each of these verses in your Bible and write down God’s promise for why this person was not to fear.
A – Genesis 15:1 - Abraham feared going where he had never been before, leaving everyone he knew behind ____ (I am a shield to you, your reward will be very great)
B – Genesis 21:17 – Hagar had been beaten and abused, so she ran away ____ (God has heard)
C – Joshua 8:1 – Joshua saw the fortresses of the enemy and feared he could never win against them ____ (I have given them into your hand)
D – Judges 6:23 – God asked Gideon to attack an army of hundreds of thousands with only 300 men, and he feared he would surely lose ____ (you shall not die)
E – Isaiah 35:4 – the people of Israel were afraid of their enemies, wondering how they could defend themselves ____ (God will come and save you)
F – Matthew 1:20 – Joseph just found out Mary was pregnant and he knew it wasn’t his child. He was afraid of what would happen to Mary ____ (the Child is the Son of God)
G – Acts 18:9-10 – Paul had been in several cities where he’d faced a lot of opposition, and now in Corinth there was more opposition coming at him ____ (I am with you)
H – Mark 5:36 – Jairus had asked Jesus to heal his daughter, and then was told it was too late because his daughter had just died ____ (only believe)
I – John 14:27 – Jesus had told His disciples He would be leaving them and going where they could not follow Him ___ (My peace I leave with you)
J – Revelation 2:10 – Christians are told we will suffer, some will go to prison, some will be tested, some will face tribulation ___ (I will give you the crown of life)
What do you fear most? Which of God’s many promises is He speaking to you now to help you conquer your fear?
