Lesson 11: Acceptable to God by Jesus Christ
Do you ever feel like you’re not good enough – to be liked by others, or to have a particular job even though you studied for it, or to be loved by God because of your sin? Then please read on to truly let your heart understand God has made you acceptable before Him by what Jesus has already done for you. Remember the word, propitiation, we studied in an earlier lesson – Jesus was the substitute for the punishment God’s righteousness demanded for your sin.
Through the work of the Holy Spirit you have been joined to Christ. You have been made a new creation in Him (2 Corinthians 5:17). God sees you now, this moment, as already having the same righteousness as Jesus (2 Corinthians 5:21). He has already given us eternal life (John 20:31).
Does this mean we won’t sin again here on earth? No. In fact, 1 John 1:8 states, “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” Now, here on earth, God wants us to work out our faith and our salvation. Think of this as God giving you a store that holds all the materials you need to build a house. Everything is there, but you have to do the work of putting it together. God does not ask us to do this building of our faith alone, He is always there to help and guide us, because He WANTS us to succeed!
