Lesson 13: Brought Near

Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.”

Have you ever had a friend or family member who tolerated you but would not let you get close to them for whatever reason? God does not do this with even one of His children. Every person who has received this gift of salvation is also brought near to God, in a close relationship that means God cares about even the smallest things in our lives right now.

Right now, while we are still on earth in imperfect bodies, we are able to talk with God and can begin to understand a part of His perfect plan for us now and for all the ages. We learn to walk by faith with Him now so when we step into the perfection of eternity we will have had some experience in trusting Him. We cannot imagine all the things we will be doing with Him then – but faith in Him will be essential for whatever He has for us. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” He accepts us as near to Him, and how close this will be is our choice. He wants us very close.
