Lesson 33: Complete in Him
Colossians 2:10 “… and you have been filled [completed] in Him, who is the head of all rule and authority.”
When God saves us, gives us eternal life, makes us a new creature in Him, He has given us ALL we need to become like Christ – we are completed in Him. Does this mean I’m perfect? Of course not, we know we’re not yet perfect because we still live in human bodies that are still subject to human desires and needs.
Maybe the best way to say this is God has given us everything we need to be able to live as Jesus lived – because He has given us His Spirit to live in us to be our Helper, our Guide, our Strength, our Wisdom, and so on. We might say God has given you all the materials with which to build the house that is YOU in this life, and now He wants you to work at building it by using all He has given you.
We need never ask Him for more grace or more mercy because He has given HIMSELF to us. He does say we should ask for wisdom (James 1:5), but this is the action of drawing on a bank where the money has already been deposited.
