Lesson 6: Forever - Where Is Heaven? (5)

Another question that might be raised here is, "where is hell?" If heaven will be in all of eternity and eternity is not limited to time and space, then where can hell be? I do not know if I have a satisfactory answer to this question, but in our own created universe I see something which might answer the question – a black hole. As we scientifically understand black holes, they are a force of such great gravity or pressure that even light cannot escape. Everything is drawn in without the possibility of escape, and even time distorts inside until there is no time. Time stops. There is a moment, an eternal moment, of death. That moment in its final end cannot end. It is a blackness, it is death, it is torture, it is nowhere, it is perfect loneliness, it is complete awareness, it is hell, it is eternal death.

Let us make one last attempt at defining good without evil. Evil will be destroyed in God’s final judgment and will be no more. God will have proven He is greater than evil and that His way is best. Every knee will have bowed before Jesus, every mouth will have confessed that God was right (Romans 14:11). Now if eternity reigns with no evil to present a dark backdrop for good then goodness is no longer measured in degrees; it simply is. Everything is always perfect, there is no struggle to achieve, there is no waiting for parts, never an erasure, no competition, never a Monday-morning quarterback moment, no second try or redesign – everything is always perfect the first time. Every single person in eternity with God will find themselves doing what they do best, what they want to do most, what thrills their heart the highest, what satisfies their soul utterly. Everything in heaven will be perfect.
