With the launch of PATH, Online Missionaries will have new opportunities in discipleship.
  1. First is the revised definition of disciple.
ARC made it easy for a Contact to become your “Disciple.” They made the list if they'd written back to you at least once. But not everyone who writes back is truly a disciple of Jesus. PATH adds some tools to help you and/or your contacts make this choice for yourselves. As a result, Ongoing Contacts are not automatically Disciples. You designate Contacts as disciples either by asking them or responding their request to be a Disciple. Clarifying this relationship takes it to a more serious commitment for both of you.
  2. Next is the tracking outline in PATH.
The six Look To Jesus steps are the model for Global Media Outreach’s initial follow-up:
    • assurance of salvation,
    • empowerment by the Holy Spirit,
    • prayer,
    • personal devotions/study/Bible reading,
    • integration with the Body of Christ, and
    • personal evangelism.
Some of our most effective disciple-makers have used the Discipleship Dashboard checkboxes as a simple outline to ensure they were “covering the bases” with their disciples over the last seven years.Without a clear plan, it’s easy for conversation with your Contacts to be driven by their own passionate questions and deeply-felt needs, leaving no time for training them to find out what pleases the Lord, a key requirement for someone ready to become a disciple. (Ephesians 5:10)

The attached Quick Reference Guide is a simple introduction to how this can be done. It provides some questions for each category of growth and helps you decide when to designate your Ongoing Contact as a disciple.
