Second Touch
Second Touch messages are quick follow-up messages sent to Contacts who have not yet
responded to your initial reply. They show the Contact that you are a real person who would like
to help them know Jesus and the Bible better. Typically, they are very short, only 1-3 sentences
long, letting them know you are available to help and would like them to write back. Some OMs
write a short general prayer or send a quick scripture. If you choose to include a scripture, be
sure it is written out. Others write a short caring personal message.
- Email Contacts should receive a second touch message about a week after you sent your first reply.
- Facebook Contacts expire 7 days from when they were submitted, so please send second touch message on day 2 or 3.
- WhatsApp messages expire only 24 hours after they are submitted. It is best to send a second touch message 2-3 hours after you send your initial reply.
Reminders:
- Are they in a Sensitive Country? (subject line for email Contacts). I recommend keeping all
subject lines free of Christian terms just to be safe.
- Did you encourage them to write back?
- Is your tone friendly and the content of your reply easy to understand?
- Is there room for an appropriate scripture or short prayer? (optional)
- Is the length of your response reasonable?
