Hello. Glad to hear from you again.

Have you ever tried to put together a bicycle, or operate a complicated piece of machinery? You
wouldn’t dare do this without the instructions.

Life is complicated! But thankfully, God has given us the instructions in His word, the Bible.
This amazing book contains the things we need to know about God, about ourselves, and how
we should relate to God, and others. It does not list every possible situation we could face, but
it gives principles to guide us in those situations. Psalm 119:105 says, “Your word is a lamp for
my feet, a light on my path,” much like having a flashlight on a winding trail.

Of course, there are many “How to” books in the bookstore, so what is different about the Bible?
2 Timothy 3:16 says, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and
to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches
us to do what is right.” This means the Bible is the very words of God. Jesus Himself quoted
Scripture when He said, “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that proceeds out
of the mouth of God”.

Note how these verses emphasize "all" and "every word." That means we cannot pick and choose
what we like. Any questions?

It is not only a light for your path, but as Jesus said, it is also food for your soul. Do not wait! Start
reading today, with the Gospel of John. Get to know Jesus, His teachings, and your faith will
grow.
