Hi there! Have you started reading the Gospel of John? I suggested that you read this book first,
because Jesus is the central figure.
You might be asking yourself – how can I be sure that what I read in the Bible is true? That is a
very good question.
The Bible is unique in many ways:
Unity - Written by 40 different authors (from every background—rich, poor, kings to servants)
in three languages over a period of 1500 years; its message about God and life shows amazing
harmony. Humanly this is impossible, but God’s Holy Spirit guided the writers.
Prophecy - The Bible has over a thousand detailed prophecies that were fulfilled. The
circumstances of Jesus’ life fulfilled many of these, from where He would be born, to how He
would die.
Historical and Scientific Accuracy - Many archaeological and scientific discoveries have
proven the accuracy of Biblical accounts.
Literary Integrity – There are more manuscripts dating closer to the original texts than for any
other literary work.
God’s Promise – Finally, God’s own words show that He has used His power to preserve His
word. Isaiah 40:8 says, “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the word of our God stands
forever.”
Add all these things up, and I believe you’ll see that we can trust that God has truly spoken, and
continues to speak, through the Bible.
