How are you enjoying your relationship with God? Like any relationship in your life, you need
to spend time with God and talk to Him.

This conversation with God is called prayer. Prayer is not a certain formula or special words,
but simply talking with God. Jesus gave us a model prayer in Matthew 6:9-13. It has 4
main parts (ACTS):

Adoration - Take time to praise and worship God. The more you focus on God’s power, and not
your problems, the more faith and peace you will have. I can’t tell you how many times I have
experienced this!

Confession – “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and
purify us from all unrighteousness”. (1 John 1:9) God does not want sin to become a wall
between us.

Thanksgiving – When God forgives your sins, it gives you a lot to be thankful for! And what
else do you have to thank Him for? Let Him know how much you appreciate all the good things
He has given you.

Supplication – Just like a good parent wants to provide for his child, Jesus said, “How much
more will your Heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask Him!” Of course, God knows
all things so we do not need to tell Him what we need. But when we come to Him we express
our need and trust in Him to help us. He promises He will always help when we ask.

What do you need God’s help with right now? Take a moment and talk to Him about it.
Practice the 4 prayer points Jesus taught. It will release God’s peace in your life.
