Many religions claim to offer an explanation of the world, and show the way to God. However, without divine intervention and revelation, finite man’s attempts to know and describe the infinite will always fall short. Followers of Jesus believe that the One True God, the Creator of everything, has revealed Himself in the Bible, and then in person through Jesus Christ.

So while other religions offer a code or set of rules to live by, they fail to deal with the problem of man’s sin, nor provide the power to live the kind of life we want to live, much less a life that measures up to God’s standards.

Jesus Christ came not as just another religious leader, but as God in the flesh, and therefore was able to clearly explain God. Not only that, He lived a perfect life, free from any sin, and when the time came for a spotless sacrifice to be offered for the sins of mankind, He alone was qualified.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father except through me.” This would be a statement of the highest arrogance if not spoken by the Son of God Himself. Before His crucifixion, Jesus prayed, “If there is any other way, let this cup pass from me.” Would the Father have subjected His Son to the torture and humiliation of the cross, just to provide one more way among many to reach Him?

No man-made religion offers the complete payment for sin and gives full access to God. Because Jesus is God’s chosen means of salvation, believing in Him is the only way to be truly saved—made right with God, with the assurance of eternal life in heaven.
