We have all experienced these scenarios:

  1. You've written a great reply to one of your disciples, you've asked terrific questions and given them a great answer to your questions. They respond with 'amen' or 'thanks.' What is your next step?
  2. You've written a great reply to a first-contact, and they don't answer. Now you have a Second Touch opportunity, what more can you possibly say?
  3. A disciple you have talked to often suddenly stops writing, and now you have a 'Disciple Expiring' opportunity. You don't want to make them feel guilty for not writing, so what can you say?

Pray Scripture. The power of Prayer is in the power of the Word.

One of the most incredible facts of this ministry is working not in our own power, but in the very power of the God of Creation and Resurrection. He has promised us His Word is as powerful as He, and it will accomplish whatever He sends it to do. Rather than using our own words to pray, and finding ourselves praying the same uncertain sentences over and over again because we don't know enough about the situation to pray for the disciple, begin praying scripture.

Scripture-prayer is far more powerful than anything we can say, for it is scripture that carries the guarantee of the Spirit's work in the heart of the disciple. Pray over the individual, allow the Spirit to guide you in using a Scripture to send to them, and you will be amazed at how many times you may hear 'How did you know that was what I needed?' from your disciple, which may allow you to begin a new mentoring direction. We may not have had a clue, but the Holy Spirit does, and knows how to speak through our hands, in His own Words, to the heart of this disciple.

Under the Resources category, in the Topical Scripture Verses folder, you will find some lists of commonly used scriptures addressing various topics. We encourage you to build a list of scriptures that you can use as prayers, to send to your contacts when you aren't sure what to write.

If the contact just asks for wealth (a common request), you might start with - 'my prayer for you right now is from Matthew 6:33, But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.'

Colossians 1:15-20 is a great scripture to use as a Second Touch message, it is a concise and complete presentation of the Gospel. Build a list of encouragement scriptures like Psalm 23, John 14:1-6, etc. Try to grow your list enough that you don't send the same prayer verses twice in a row. Check the history for this disciple to be sure that you send them fresh words with every message.

God bless you as you seek to be a blessing to your disciples!
